To see a much more detailed map click here.  The map is big, so you may have to scroll around to see all of it.

At Cocolalla there are several photo opportunities with Cocolalla Lake in the background for westbounds.  As you continue south on US 95, there is a red barn which provides a nice challenge to get a train and the barn together in the same shot.  Also in this stretch there are numerous little roads that cross the tracks.  From these there are some great photos to be had.  Since the tracks and the highway run parallel with each other almost all the way to Granite you can easily see if a train is coming.  Also most of the signals in this area can be seen from the road and are very helpful in determining where trains are.  There is a detector at milepost 24.2 which can give you a heads up for coming trains too.  After checking out these roads continue on south.  To access the tracks at Granite, take the Old highway to the right of US 95.  About a mile down this road Twin Rivers road crosses the tracks and can be a good spot for afternoon westbounds.  At Granite there is another road crossing as well as a pair of signals.  Across the road from the tracks there is a dirt and rock hill which you can climb to gain whatever elevation you prefer.
