On Friday the 25 of October my dad and I left for the St. Marries River Railroad around 7:15am and arrived at St. Marries at 8:40am. I shot some pictures of the yard and then we headed to the Potlatch Mill where the STEM 501 was. There was only one guy in the engine and he was just reading the newspaper and drinking his morning coffee. We waited around for 45 min. but all he did was reverse a couple hundred yards and then come right back to the same spot! He looked like he was just having fun driving around. Well after awhile we drove to the main office and asked when the Plummer local was leaving. They said "Between noon and one if they can get ready in time". To my self I said that's a joke, come on you have a guy just sitting around on an engine wasting time. So we headed to the first crossing on the way to Plummer. It was about 10:00am when we got there and we prepared to wait a couple hours. Well it turned into 5 hours before the Plummer local showed its face. And surprise it wasn't led by a switcher but by 101 and 102 both GP9s! We shot some pictures and then started chasing it. We beat it to the long trestle over the water and also the biggest trestle on the line. After that it was around 3:40 so we decided to head for Spokane, WA. In Spokane we hit Yardley and shot a UP flagged unit at UP's yard. We then stopped at a couple of stores and arrived home just in time for supper. |
